Hakuna Matata-Mad fun in the Mud

20
Apr

Hakuna Matata Festival’s debut was on New Year’s Eve in 2013 and I can recall distinctly how it was the place everyone wanted to be. Sure the festival had predecessors like 6 am entertainment and what have you, but I have to give credit where it is due by admitting that the Hakuna Matata Festival had, and still has quite the following. Why you may ask? Perhaps it’s the reasonable price, the genre of music and definitely the strategic out of town set up or maybe, just maybe it’s that pizzazz, jazz and razmataz…that little extra something that I can’t quite put my finger on!

For years now festivals like Tomorrow land, Glastonbury and Coachella have been on my rather extensive bucket list. I think the idea of a carefree movement, and a group of people savoring decibels in unison is precisely why this sort of festivals will always work and that could be precisely why the Hakuna Matata festival has attracted such a following. Besides, imagine all the good vibes alcohol laden enthusiastic youth can create.

All work and no play...Team Building 2015

04
Mar

Team building is basically about fostering workplace relationships and fortifying much needed barriers between the different roles and hierarchies in an organization (with diplomacy of course, lest the subordinates bay for your blood later).

Ticketsasa and our friends at Pesapal and Verviant had one such arrangement about a week ago. We set out to Nakuru, enthusiasm in our hearts and booze in our trunks, with sincere hopes of achieving our own objectives, in conjunction with the generic goals every team has during these exercises.

Trying to catch the cheaters

An easy task twas not for this is one group that gives a whole new meaning to the term “different strokes”. Case in point: state an organization that has a bloke who was an instant millionaire in campus, a lass who once dealt with the dearly departed, a vivacious lady who rarely takes no for an answer, a principled young man who‘s been sporting a six piece incessantly since his first day, an avid blogger, a free spirited lady with quite the sense of adventure, a CEO with a slight inclination to boiled maize and bodaboda rides, our own resident James Bond, tenacious men, reserved women, volatile individuals, the narcissists, the family people, the over- achievers, the pessimists,  the couples - you name it! Now imagine trying to create a synergy between all these conflicting personalities. Well, that’s what we hoped our three nights at Punda Milias Tented Camp would do.

The Valentine's Dos & Don'ts Handy Guide

The month of love is fast approaching and so is the beloved/dreaded day! Depends on which side of the fence you are standing. Gentlemen, you might want to pull your seats closer because we are giving you a heads-up on what you should do, and what to steer clear of on this dear St. Valentine’s Day. PS: Don't quote us on these tips; after all, matters of the heart are way off our speciality. J

  • DO make an effort. Surprise her with a getaway to a location that she’s never been to or she can’t frequent every weekend. Keep it exciting. Go the extra mile; after all, it is only one day.

  • DON'T resort to a franchise restaurant or a fast food restaurant. It makes you come off as lazy, unimaginative and dare we say nonchalant. Unlike watermelon, olives and hǔ biān (look it up); deep fried food is not an aphrodisiac.  Yes, you can thank us later!

Make Your Own Reel

02
Feb

What can I say about film that already hasn't already been said centuries over! Clint Eastwood, Charlie Chaplain, Orson Welles, Bruce Lee, Alfred Hitchcock, Martin Scorsese and dare I say it Christopher Nolan, among others have become household names because we all have to get our hour and a half fix! (Or 2-3 hours in some bitter/sweet cases).

So we ask, who wouldn't want to be a part of a set sanctioned by Hollywood? Who wouldn't want to feel like they’re reliving an Oscar nominated narrative? Who doesn't want to tread where the cinema mavericks once deemed fit? Join us as we explore some of these locations right here in our motherland!

OUT OF AFRICA (1985)

3 days 2 nights getaway to aberdares country clubBased on the 1937 book by Isak Dinesen, Out Of Africa is a captivating story of Karen Blixen played by Meryl Streep who moved to Kenya with her Danish husband Baron Bror Blixen-Finecke to tend to their massive coffee plantation. Bror turned out to be a ruthless womanizer and was immediately given the boot by an unapologetic Karen. Karen meets Denys (Robert Redford) and a romantic affair ensues.
