The smell of chapatis and nyama choma wafting through the air, the last cackle of the hen before it became the highlight meal of the day, the new outfits, friends and family gathered together. Oh, and there had to be soda. A full crate. Otherwise, Christmas would not be complete. Christmas was the Cypress trees - yes, we didn’t have the luxury of the now-more-readily available recyclable trees. Oh, the aroma of that Cypress Christmas tree... Nostalgic! It was a fantastic musical ride last Sunday when we hosted British based superstar Maxi Priest for his first ever live performance in Nairobi. Priest, who was the first reggae artist to have a No. 1 hit worldwide, including the U.S. Billboard charts, entertained revellers at the afternoon show held at the Ngong Racecourse, Waterfront. The 25th (yes, you read that right) edition of the BYSS improv comedy show took place this weekend at the Arboretum Grounds. It was an all-new outdoor comedy festival that not only saw the BYSS cast do what they do best but also showcased Kenya's talent through musical performances from the likes of Hulda Serro, Tetu Shani and Mayonde.
