The Cherry Orchard

The play's name is 'The Cherry Orchard' and it has been scripted by Anton Chekhov. The Cherry Orchard is a play scripted in Russia but applicable in Kenya by all means. Adapted to take place in the outskirts of Machakos county,it takes us through the events in the lives of the Raveni family, in dealing with the loss of their treasured Cherry Orchard. The orchard that has stayed in the family for generations and is now about to be auctioned to pay off debts. In this emotional tale, themes such as change, family, hypocrisy and love are brought out and we get to reflect upon the past transgressions that have faced Kenya and learn how to focus our energy in building the future and letting go of our past....for ourselves, for our generation and for our country.

The play will be staged on the 25th, 26th and 27th of July at the Alliance Francaise. The timings will be at 6.00PM on Friday and 3.00PM and 6.00PM on Saturday and Sunday. Advance tickets go for Kshs. 350 and couples tickets go for Kshs. 600 and are available till the 24th of July.
