Hey #BlanketsAndWiners! Welcome to the 57th edition of Blankets & Wine newsletter! On November 2nd at the Carnivore Gardens, we’re going to discover, love and share Kenya’s creative industry, while raising awareness for forced evictions and contributing to a global movement brought to us by Amnesty International.

 WHAT?

 Forced Evictions or Forced Migration is a huge problem that has been facing Kenyans for more than five years now. Every year, thousands of people and their families are forced to leave their homes behind to make room for government delegated projects.  Alongside their homes, they are forced to leave their human rights to live in their homes, and forced onto the streets. Together with Amnesty International we are bringing this cause to you Blankets & Winers. We want you to discover, an important problem that is going in right here in Kenya, share the news with your family and friends and love contributing to a global movement that is making a difference.

Music Stage

On the music stage, discover the next generation of Kenyan urban music, as performed by Cee L, Mayonde, Dela, and Muthoni Drummer Queen.

Art Hive

Later join our featured artists at the Art Hive for a live game of musical chairs during the Housing Competition segment so you too can experience the invasion that is forced evictions. Interact with the Amnesty International crew and learn more on forced evictions. Experience live art with Made with Love studio and artists from the Kenyan National Museum.

Drum Jam

Interact with the Amnesty International arts troupe and witness the incredible artistry and creative magic perturding from Kenya’s low-income neighborhoods.

 X-FACTOR

Thunderclap: Mass Mobilization

Get involved and participate in this global movement and campaign. Voice your opinion on this cause by sending a signed message to a short code we’ll provide to you on the day. This activity will be used as part of the global campaign to drive awareness and contribute to changing Forced Evictions. Each signed message we receive will be counted as a signature and used to raise awareness to the Kenyan government and stop forced evictions.
