Just what you have been waiting for: #COMPROMISINGPOSITIONS‬ at Alliance Francaise August 4-7: a dramatic comedy thriller about romance, betrayal, corruption and murder, and is thrilling, fast, razor-sharp, full of funny situations, filled with innuendos and mistaken identities that will keep you on the edge of your seat. In this world premiere, wealth, power and corruption threaten to tear the Mwashetani family apart

In his hay days, Billionaire Eliud Mwashetani (Dru Muthure – last seen in FCA’s Dirty sexy Money, also plays Mustafa in the popular local TV drama series Mother-in-Law) was a political wheeler dealer with powerful connections, wielding influence across the nation. Having held powerful ministerial posts, Eliud corruptly amassed massive wealth by awarding himself thousands of acres of prime land across the country in addition to illegal poaching.

Eliud’s wife, Pamela (Muthoni Thiong’o), and son, Arnold (Bilal Mwaura), are now responsible for managing the family fortune since he’s now sickly. Pamela persistently taunts her husband over an illicit affair he had with his secretary that resulted in the birth of Malaika (Valentine Wambui). Unlike her husband, Pamela is a cold and ruthless tyrant, eliminating business and political rivals but she has never been brought to justice. The corrupted investigations are compromised by money, politics and cowardice. The family’s lawyers, including her own shrewd, lustful, conniving daughter Valerie (Shiviske Shivisi – famous for her hilarious role as the househelp in FCA’s Diplomat’s Wife), use every dirty trick available. Things, however, begin to fall apart as betrayal and backstabbing take centre stage, threatening the collapse of the Mwashetani family dynasty.

Others who are involved in this web of drama are Bjay, Mr. Fix it/”cleaner” (JB Masanduku) who runs shady errands for the family; popular and much feared blogger Lorenzo Matata (Mourad Sadat - last seen in FCA’s hilarious comedy No dinner for sinners as the hard-to-please British boss) who is later abducted and tortured; local content producer Alison Migwi (Liz Ngugi- famous for her “pookey” role in FCA’s Betrayal and “sponsored” role in Storm in the City); main stream journalist Julian Nabutola (introducing Bramble Kimotho); and a street beggar (Natalie Ruguru).
