Attractions and Activities

A small ‘8’ shaped pool with lounge chairs offers relief from the sometimes scorching midday temperatures and is great place to just leave all your troubles behind. There is also a well stocked curio shop should you want to shop and live salsa dancers on the weekends for those who fancy a bit of entertainment.

Should you want to venture into the park, a game drive, self driven or otherwise, is richly rewarding as the park is teeming with birdlife with almost 450 species found there.

There are also many mammalian species including the endangered white rhino and all the big cats call the park home. However they are very elusive and hard to spot with evenings being the ideal time to go look for them.

Near the Lanet gate is a path that leads up to the Lion Hill Picnic site with an absolutely magnificent view. See if you can get a lunch packed for delightful meal at this spot.

How to get there:

There is tarmac all the way to Afraha main gate however, be warned, the lodge is not close to the main gate and it takes a solid 20 minute drive to get there. You can also access the park via the Lanet gate, however you need a KWS card as they do not accept cash payment of park fees here.

The Nderit gate is used by visitors coming in from Masai Mara or Elementaita and you can also fly there as the Naishi Airstrips allows light aircraft to land there.
