6 Things To Do With Dad This Father's Day Weekend

Father’s day, though a relatively modern holiday,  is celebrated on the third Sunday of June and is a day that honours all fathers and father-figures in our lives. More often than not, we tend to downplay the contribution that fathers make. This year, do things a little differently and celebrate the deserving men in your life with these simple but great activities that will help you make them feel more appreciated.

  1. Relive the drive-in movie theatre experience this weekend - Is dad a movie buff? Share the special day with him as you watch the screening of The Shawshank Redemption, a classical favourite, at the Two Rivers Mall. Tickets are going for KSh. 2000 per car (maximum of 5 people). Pretty good deal if you ask us. Get your tickets here and get ready to have an amazing time.

  2. Go for a weekend getaway - Nothing says rest and relaxation (and of course that you are appreciated) better than a night’s getaway to a cosy place out of town. Nakuru and Naivasha make for good destination options as they are about 2 and a half hours away from Nairobi. Nakuru Sopa Lodge, Rift Valley Lodge and Enashipai Resort and Spa are some of our top picks.

  3. Order in and have your favourite meal on the patio - Weekends were made for lazy meals. However, isn't it better if you can have a hearty meal and not have to step into the kitchen to prepare it? Yum can hook you up real good!  Change things up a little, order from your favourite restaurant and share this meal with dad. After all, nothing brings people together like good food.

  4. Take him for a thrill ride at the GP Karting course in Carnivore - This is not an activity reserved for the Michael Schumachers of this world. Create an unbreakable bond with dad as you compete to maneuver the race track in the shortest time possible. The trill and the adrenaline rush make the experience all so worth it.

  5. Try out rock climbing - What a great way to bond and challenge yourselves to get to greater heights... literally. Take dad out to Climb BlueSky's outdoor climbing tower located in Purdy Arms, Karen. Should the weather be less favourable, you can also opt for their indoor bouldering walls (located in Westlands, 6th floor of Old Tower, Diamond Plaza) which are up to 4.1 meters high.

  6. Go camping at the Lukenya Motorcross - A change is as good as a rest. Try something completely different. Bond with dad as you take in the sights and sounds of the night
